1 min read

The Washington Wild Things signed former Texas Rangers prospect Ryan Bores Friday. Bores is the fourth player and the second pitcher with Class AA experience signed by Washington recently.

The native of Strongsville, Ohio was drafted twice by the Rangers. The right-hander was selected in the 26th round of the 2011 MLB June Amateur Draft but opted to play one more year at Kent State University. Following a standout season, Bores was chosen by the Rangers in the 27th round of the draft.

In three seasons in the Rangers system, Bores appeared in 65 games with the Arizona League Rangers, Hickory Crawdads, Myrtle Beach Pelicans and the Frisco Roughriders. Last season, he started the year with the Pelicans and appeared in 15 games before a mid-season promotion to Double-A Frisco. With the Roughriders in 2014, Bores was 2-3 with a 2.79 ERA in 16 games (two starts). Bores faced 132 batters and had 14 strikeouts in 21 innings.

A second team All-MAC selection in 2012, the junior was 10-3 in 18 starts, striking out 68 in 110 2/3 innings for Kent State. Prior to Kent State, Bores spent his sophomore season at Cuyahoga Community College and competed his freshman year at Ohio University.
