W&J softball sweeps PAC doubleheader

Washington & Jefferson stretched its winning streak to five games with a doubleheader sweep of Chatham Monday.

W&J used a four-run third inning to grab a 6-1 lead in the opener. Emily Watson led off with a home run, and with two outs four Presidents reached base in a row. Abby Cunningham capped the scoring with a two-run single.

Cunningham and Watson each were 3-for-4. Krista McCartney pitched a complete game with a career-high nine strikeouts.

Watson had two RBI doubles in the 9-1, five-inning victory in the second game. The Presidents led 7-0 after two innings.

Watsom was 2-for-3 with three RBI.
