H.S. Baseball: Rohanna’s no-hitter lifts Waynesburg to win

Trey Rohanna threw a six-inning no-hitter with 10 strikeouts as Waynesburg defeated Beth-Center, 12-0, in a Section 2-AA high school boys baseball game Wednesday.

Hunter Robinson homered and Rohanna doubled for the Raides (5-2, 5-3), who had 15 hits.

Tyler Zelenick took the loss for Beth-Center (2-2, 3-3).

• Cory Lent scattered five hits and struck out nine as Brownsville defeated Chartiers-Houston, 8-2, in a Section 2-AA game.

Lent, Jacob Reichichar, Tucker Pritts and Shane Roebuck all doubed for Brownsville (3-0, 6-1).

Jordan Davis took the loss for Char-Houston (2-2, 2-4).

• George Carson and Tanner Piechnick had key RBI singles in a four-run third inning as Canon-McMillan held off Bethel Park, 6-3, in a Section 5-AAAA game.

Ian Hess got the win for the Big Macs (4-1, 7-2), while Austin Berger picked up a save.

Joe Zuffal, Lou Ridgeway and Bo Williams all doubled for Bethel Park (2-2, 4-3), while Justin Neis took the loss.

• Ryan Lauman and Craig Gush combined on a no-hitter to help California to a 17-0 five-inning Section 1-A win over Mapletown.

Casey Zajicek, Alex Adams and Louden Conten all doubled for the Trojans (3-0, 9-1).

Cody Dice suffered the loss for the Maples (0-5, 0-7).

• Sam Hockenberry allowed just three hits and also had double and two RBI as Burgettstown defeated Northgate, 9-0, in a Section 1-AA game.

Brett Pisinski and Brandon Sell had two hits each for the Blue Devils (1-2, 3-2).

Devin Deitrich and Evan Helbing both doubled for Northgate (1-4, 1-4).

• Riley Nickeson struck out seven and held Carmichaels to three hits as Bentworth defeated the Mikes, 6-2, in a key Section 1-A home game.

The Bearcats (4-0, 7-1) climbed into a tie for first place with California behind a strong offense. Hunter Neely had two RBI, Ty Mitchell went 2-for-4 with an RBI and Robbie Shultz hit an RBI double for Bentworth, which trailed 2-1 entering the bottom of the second before scoring three runs and adding two in the fifth inning.

Carmichaels (1-2, 4-2) committed four errors and had just one extra-base hit, a double by junior Josh Bogucki

• Andrew Wheeler struck out six batters and held Peters Township to five hits as Upper St. Clair defeated the Indians, 3-0, in a Section 5-AAAA game.

Kevin Marthinsen hit a double and drove in two runs for the Panthers (2-1, 5-3). The Indians (1-3, 6-5) committed two errors and did not have an extra-base hit.

• South Fayette scored four runs in the top of the eighth inning and held off a McGuffey rally on its way to a 12-10 victory in a Section 3-AAA game.

After the Lions (2-1, 4-3) took the lead in the eighth, McGuffey’s Austin McVay hit a two-run single to narrow the deficit to two runs, the Highlanders stranded runners on first and third to end the game.

Logan Sharp hit a solo home run for South Fayette and Jordan Reeves hit two doubles for McGuffey (0-4, 0-6).

• Quaker Valley scored seven runs in the first three innings and held off a Fort Cherry rally to walk away with a 7-4 win in a Section 1-AA game.

Jack Hendricks pitched six innings and did not allow a run to earn the victory for the Quakers (4-0, 5-0).

Cam Shaub and Anthony Kampian had two RBI in the seventh inning for Fort Cherry (1-4, 2-4).

• David Blaker hit a two-out, two-run single in the fourth inning to lead Jefferson-Morgan past West Greene, 5-2, in a Section 1-A game.

Gage Clark earned the win with seven strikeouts and had a double for the Rockets (3-1, 4-4). Dalton Eddy had nine strikeouts for the Pioneers (0-3, 0-6).

• Jordan West had three RBI and Kevin Patterson earned the victory as Wash High defeated Charleroi, 12-2, in a Section 2-AA game.

Jackson Interval also hit a two-run double for the Prexies (4-0, 4-1). West and Jonathan Spina also had two RBI for Wash High.

Charleroi (0-5, 1-7) had just two hits.

• Mitchell Taufer had 10 strikeouts and hit a double to lift Bishop Canevin to a 4-0 win over Avella in a Section 5-A game.

Justin Dix hit a two-run single in the third inning to give the Crusaders (2-0, 2-2) the lead. Luke Lloyd took the loss for the Eagles (1-3, 4-4).
