Baseball: Washington outslugs Waynesburg for win
Kurt Adkins and Jonathan Spina combined for 5 RBI to power Washington to a 9-7 win over Waynesburg in a Section 2-AA game.
Adkins had a double and 3 RBI and Spina a double, triple and 2 RBI for the Prexies (6-0, 6-1). Isiah Perry doubled.
Joel Rohanna went 3-for-4 with a solo home run for the Raiders (4-3, 5-4). Dalton Riggenbach had a double.
• Darren Krause drove in two runs in the sixth and seventh inning for four on the night to lead Carmichaels to a 9-3 victory over West Greene in Section 1-A.
Bill Bowlen went 2-for-4 and drove in two runs in a six-run seventh for the Mikes (3-2, 7-2). Mike Blasinsky went 3-for-4 with a run scored. Jacob Kinsell struck out eight in 4 1/3 innings of relief.
West Greene fell to 1-7, 1-4 in the section.
• Baldwin rallied from a 6-4 deficit with four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to take an 8-6 victory from Peters Township in a Section 5-AAAA game.
Ryan Tassone had a double for PT (2-4, 7-6). Tim Swoope went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI.
Baldwin moved to 5-3 overall, 3-3 in the section.
• TJ Johnson went 3-for-4 with a double and a sole home run to lift Chartiers-Houston over Beth-Center, 5-3, in a Section 2-AA game.
The Bucs (3-3, 3-5) grabbed the lead with one run in the fifth inning and two more in the sixth. Jordan Davis earned the victory after striking out two and allowing just four hits. Jacob Greco hit two doubles for the Bulldogs (2-4, 3-5).
