Softball: Ludrosky no-hits Char-Houston as Jefferson-Morgan tightens 1-A race
Maddie Ludrosky struck out 12 and tossed a no-hitter Friday in Jefferson-Morgan’s 1-0 victory over visiting Chartiers-Houston in a Section 1-A game.
Camryn Dugan had the only hit of the game, a single that scored Morgan Gamble from second base for the Rockets (6-1, 8-2). Gamble got on base via an error and was sacrificed to second by Raegan Rush.
The Rockets are one-half game behind section-leader Chartiers-Houston (7-1, 12-2) and two games ahead of third-place West Greene (4-3, 8-4) with three section games remaining.
• Abby McCartney hit a two-run home run and drove in three to help Canon-McMillan power its way past Baldwin, 10-9, in a Section 4-AAAA game.
The Big Macs (6-1, 8-2) led 10-5 after five but gave up four runs in the fifth to Baldwin (7-2, 8-2). Linda Rush had a solo home run and Kayla Hopkins a double for C-M.
Ashley Brady had a two-run home run and drove in four for Baldwin. Jaimie Schleicher hit a solo home run and Katie Knevevich added a two-run home run.
• Beth-Center hit three home runs to power its way past Waynesburg, 12-8 in a Section 2-AA game.
Winning pitcher Abby Gustovich, Chelsea Snyder and Hannah Davida each hit a home run for the Bulldogs (4-6, 4-6). Gustovich also had a double and single in 4 at-bats.
Hannah Gibbons homered for Waynesburg (3-5, 4-8). Tara Staley doubled and Brooke Moore went 3-for-3 with a double.
• McGuffey needed just five innings to take a 12-0 victory from Fort Cherry in a non-section.
Moriah McGuier struck out 12 and allowed only one hit for the Highlanders (8-1). Meghan Shultz and Mckenzie Dobrzynski each had a double.
Gina Lodge had a bunt single in the third for Fort Cherry (1-8).
• Ashley Iagnemma threw a one-hit shutout and South Fayette had 18 hits in an 18-0 three-inning victory over winless Quaker Valley in Section 2-AAA.
Corton Blocker had a big game at the plate for South Fayette (4-3, 9-5), going 3-for-3 with three doubles, three runs and three RBI. Lexi Wolf had a double among her three hits.
