Patterson pitches Wash High past B-C
Kevin Patterson pitched a complete game shutout with seven strikeouts to propel Washington over Beth-Center, 7-0, in a Section 2-AA game.
The Prexies (6-2, 6-3) snapped a two-game losing streak behind doubles by Jonathan Spina, Jordan Mooney, Kurt Adkins and Jackson Interval.
The Bulldogs (2-7, 3-8) committed four errors.
• Bentworth rallied from a 5-4 deficit in the third by scoring three runs in the final three innings for a 7-5 win over West Greene in a Section 2-A game.
Tim Kurutz had a solo home run for the Bearcats (7-1, 10-2). West Greene fell to 3-7, including 1-7 in the section.
• A 13-run first inning paced California to an 18-3, three-inning victory over Mapletown in a Section 1-A game.
Aaron Previsky went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI, giving him 41 on the year and tying the school record set by T.D. Conway in 2012. Casey Zajicek was 1-1 with three stolen bases, two runs, and an RBI for Cal (7-0, 13-1). Paul Peters doubled and had four stolen bases. Luketich was 2-3 with a double and triple.
Mapletown fell to 0-9 and 0-11.
• Burgettstown scored five runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to defeat Freedom, 11-10, in a Section 1-AA game.
Sam Hockenberry went 3-for-5 with two doubles and two RBI for the Blue Devils (3-8, 5-8). Mike Smith went 2-for-4 with a double, three runs scored and two RBI. Winning pitcher Brandon Sell added a double.
Anthony Thompson went 4-for-4 with a two-run home run for Freedom (3-7, 5-8). Brad Eckman hit a three-run home run and Even DiCiero had a double.
