Softball: McGuffey goes 10, outlasts Charleroi

Meghan Shultz doubled home Lynsey Mersky with what would be the winning run Wednesday in McGuffey’s 7-6 victory over Charleroi in a 10-inning Section 2-AA game.

Lynsey Mersky had an RBI single in the top of the 10th for the Highlanders (10-1, 11-1) and Shultz went 4-for-6. Sammie Weiss and Moriah McGuier each had a double.

Libby Wical and Sydney Toth each had a double for Charleroi (3-8, 4-9) and Kaitlynn McCann added a triple.

• Abby Shipley went 3-for-4 with 2 doubles and an RBI to pace Mapletown to a 10-4 win over California in a Section 2-A game.

Maddie Bogden went 2-for-4 with an RBI for the Maples (4-5, 9-5). Abby McIntire had a two-run single. Gabby Mariscotti went 2-for-3 with an RBI for California (1-7, 1-13).
