The Wild Things announced Monday they have released first baseman Lee Orr, who is in his first season with Washington.

Orr was signed last offseason after being released from the San Diego Padres organization. He played four seasons in affiliated ball and appeared in 96 games for Class AA San Antonio over the 2013 and ’14 seasons.

Expected to be a power hitter in the middle of the Wild Things’ lineup, Orr battled a back injury for much of the Frontier League season and spent a stint on the 14-day disabled list. He told the O-R that he has four bulging discs in his back. A native of Louise, Texas, Orr had a .173 batting average in 41 games with Washington. He hit nine home runs and drove in 23 runs.

Washington begins a three-game series tonight at Traverse City.
