Beach Bums rally to slam Wild Things

Jay Austin had a pair of bases-loaded doubles that drove in six runs and sparked the Traverse City Beach Bums to a 14-8 come-from-behind victory over the Washington Wild Things in a Frontier League game.

Traverse City assaulted Washington relievers for 12 combined runs over the seventh and eighth innings, wiping away Washington leads of 6-1 and 7-2 in the game.

Brandon Jacobs drove in three runs and the first six batters in Traverse City’s lineup scored two runs.

Sam Mende and Austin Wobrock each drove in two runs for the Wild Things. Tim Flight gave up only two runs in five innings but three relievers gave up a combined 12 runs and 11 hits.

Traverse City starter Austin Phillips gave up six runs in 3 2/3 innings.
