Wild Things’ loss a real bummer
TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. – Traverse City’s Michael Shreves and two relievers combined on a four-hitter as the Beach Bums defeated the Wild Things 4-1 Wednesday night.
The loss extended Washington’s losing streak to three games. The Wild Things have lost six consecutive road contests.
Shreves (6-1) gave up three hits and three walks over seven innings. Bret Dahlson pitched the eighth inning and Andrew Brockett got the final three outs for his 18th save.
Traverse City took a 1-0 lead with a run in the third inning against Washington starter Ernesto Zaragoza (5-6).
The Wild Things made it 1-1 in the fourth when Scott Kalamar singled, stole second base and scored on a single by Sam Mende. The Wild Things, however, had only two hits over the remainder of the game.
The Beach Bums scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth on a sacrifice fly and throwing error, then tacked on an insurance run in the eighth.
