SCHAUMBURG, Ill. – Kyle Ruchim and Craig Massey hit solo home runs to help Schaumburg rally for a 3-2 victory over Washington Sunday afternoon.

The Wild Things (31-41), who were attempting to sweep an opponent on the road for the first time since May 29-31 at Gateway, grabbed a quick 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Andrew Heck and Matt Ford hit back-to-back singles to start the inning before Sam Mende hit a two-run double.

Scott Kalamar followed with a single, but David Popkins hit a pop up in foul territory and Kalamar was caught stealing to end the inning. Washington had 10 hits, but stranded seven. Jimmy Yezzo hit a two-out double in the sixth inning, but Danny Poma grounded out and Ford, who went 3-for-4, was left at third base in the eighth inning after Popkins flew out to center.

Schaumburg (30-42) cut the deficit to one run in the third inning when Ruchim, who went 4-for-4, hit a solo home run and tied the game in the fourth on a solo shot by Massey.

The Boomers took the lead in the sixth when Will Martin hit a leadoff double, advanced to third on a ground out and scored on a single by Cam Sherrer.
