Davis & Elkins holds off California
Davis & Elkins led by as many as 23 points midway through the second half and held off California’s rally with a 83-72 win in a non-conference game.
Wesley Sprinkle led the Senators (4-4) with 20 points, while Kevin Simpson added 19 and Kevin Bracy-Davis had 17. Davis & Elkins led 42-36 at halftime before it went on a 20-4 run in less than an eight-minute span to grab a 23-point advantge. The Senators shot 50.8 percent from the field, including 8 of 17 from three-point range. They scored 21 points off 18 turnovers.
Nate Bellhy, a Fort Cherry graduate, scored a team-high 15 points, including 10 in the first half, for the Vulcans (4-6) and Khalil Jabbie added 11. California missed 13 three-point field goal attempts and got only three second-chance points despite holding a 34-30 rebounding advantage. The loss snapped California’s two-game winning streak.
