Ritchie’s 22 points help Waynesburg hold off Westminster

WAYNSBURG – D.J. Ritchie scored a game-high 22 points, including 17 in the second half, to help Waynesburg defeat Westminster, 73-65, in a PAC game at Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse.

The Yellow Jackets (2-1, 3-5) trailed by six points at halftime and used a 9-4 run in the final 90 seconds of regulatoin to to secure the win. With the score tied 64-64, Ritchie’s jumper gave Waynesburg the lead and it never looked back. He also made five of six free throws in the final 25 seconds. Ritchie also had nine rebounds and did not have a turnover.

Jon Knab had 16 points and Nate Labishak added 13 for Waynesburg, which shot 38 percent from the field and turned 15 Westminster turnovers into 18 points. The Yellow Jackets made 21 of 26 attempts at the free throw line and five of their nine turnovers came in the first half.

The Titans (2-1, 2-6) made eight three-pointers and were led by Austin Armwood’s 12 points.
