Rebellion trade RHP Williamson to Pride
Andi Williamson’s stay as a member of the Pennsylvania Rebellion softball team lasted only a couple of weeks.
The Rebellion traded Williamson to the USSSA Pride for utility player Alexa Peterson and the 25th pick in the National Pro Fastpitch softball draft.
The right-handed pitcher came to the Rebellion with outfielder Megan Wiggins in a four-player deal with the Chicago Bandits in exchange for the Edwards sisters, Taylor and Tatum.
Wiggins was later traded to the Pride for catcher Kristyn Sandberg and draft picks.
“Andi is the type of player who experienced immediate success at the NPF level due to her competitiveness and willingness to be great. We are excited to add a young arm with her credentials to blend with our veteran staff,” Pride general manager Don DeDonatis said in a press release.
The Rebellion did not have a comment on the trade.
The Rebellion now have eight selections, including three in the second round, in the NPF draft, which will be held in late March or early April.
Peterson was the 11th pick in the 2014 draft by the Pride and hit .338 in limited playing time. She finished the season with a home run and three RBI. Peterson, a former All-American at Oregon, played the outfield and third base for the Pride. She is currently an assistant coach at the University of Montevallo in Alabama.
