Buzzer-beating tip-in gives Robert Morris win
MOON TOWNSHIP – Aaron Tate put up a buzzer-beating tip-in to secure Robert Morris’ 53-52 come-from-behind victory over Central Connecticut State Saturday.
Robert Morris trailed throughout the second half but a 5:42 cold spell by CCSU put the Colonials within striking distance. Rodney Pryor made a trey and Marcquise Reed hit a jumper for a one-point game with two minutes remaining.
Robert Morris then turned the ball over on back-to-back possessions, but the Blue Devils missed all four of their shot attempts. The Colonials took possession with 16 seconds left – Reed tried a jumper that didn’t drop, and Tate’s tip-in bounced around the rim before falling for the win.
Tate finished with four points and six rebounds. Reed scored 18 points for the Colonials (9-5, 13-13), who hold sole possession of third place in the Northeast Conference.
Matt Mobley led the Blue Devils (1-13, 3-24) with 23 points.
