1 min read

For the first time, the state champion in the high school smallbore individual championships is not from the WPIAL.

Josh Plum of Liberty High School fired a 394 last week to win the PA State Scholastic Individual Smallbore Championship, marking the first time since the the tournament began in 2001 that a WPIAL shooter has not won that title.

Mike Krivi of Woodland Hills, the defending champion from this tournament and winner of the WPIAL individual championship two weeks ago, finished in a three-way tie at 392 behind Plum and finished second via tiebreaker.

Also firing a 392 were Mason Kemerer of Hempfield and Aleah Atkinson of Woodland Hills, with Kemerer placing third based on tiebreakers.

Becca Kinzel of Bethel Park finished seventh with a 389, while McGuffey’s Alex Klages was the top local finisher, shooting a 388 to place ninth.

Woodland Hills, the WPIAL team champion, also won that honor at the state tournament with a 977.

Trinity, which also finished second to the Wolverines at the WPIAL tournament, finished second in the state tournament, as well, firing a 966.
