Robert Morris moves into 2nd place in NEC, wins at Bryant

SMITHFIELD, R.I. (AP) – Rodney Pryor’s layup with :35 left gave Robert Morris the lead and Lucky Jones and Marquise Reed both padded it by hitting a pair of free throws as the Colonials edged Bryant, 76-70, and created at three-way tie for second place in the Northeast Conference.

Bryant won at Robert Morris on Jan. 31, 71-68, but has not beaten the Colonials on its home court in five tries.

The eight-team field for the Northeast Conference tournament has been set, but teams still are jockeying for position within the field. Robert Morris (14-14), Mount St. Mary’s (14-13) and Bryant (13-14) all are tied at 10-6 in conference.

Pryor finished 24 points to lead Robert Morris, with Jones adding 14 points and Reed contributing 13.

Dyami Starks scored 18 points to lead Bryant, with Bosko Kester adding 14 points and Curtis Oakley and Shane McLaughlin 11 each.
