Giants manager back at practice

Bruce Bochy watched Giants pitchers and catchers while a song by Waylon Jennings wafted over the sound system at Scottsdale Stadium.
All was OK for the San Francisco manager.
Bochy rejoined the World Series champions Sunday, three days after having a heart procedure.
“I couldn’t feel any better,” Bochy said. “I am grateful for the doctors and want to thank all the well-wishers who sent me messages.”
The 59-year-old Bochy had two stents placed near his heart Thursday night.
Doctors told Bochy to stay from the ballpark for a few days. He slipped back into his office Saturday.
Bochy said he didn’t feel good for much of the winter, but he added: “”It wasn’t like I was crushing barbecue every night.”
After he took his annual spring physical Wednesday, Bochy followed the suggestion of team physician Robert Murray and team trainer Dave Groeschner and headed over to the Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn Medical Center.
“I go in and the next thing I know, I’m getting stents put in,” he said.
Beachy, Dodgers reach deal: Free agent pitcher Brandon Beachy agreed to a $2.75 million, one-year contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers, who hope he can recover from his second Tommy John surgery.
The 28-year-old Beachy 14-11 with a 3.23 ERA with Atlanta from 2010-13. He missed last season after elbow surgery in March.
Beachy was leading the majors in ERA through 13 starts in 2012 before needing his first Tommy John surgery in June.
Famous glove sold at auction: The glove Jeffrey Maier used to pull Derek Jeter’s famous home run over the wall during the 1996 AL Championship Series against Baltimore has been sold at auction for $22,705.
Heritage Auctions said the glove was purchased by an anonymous collector Saturday night, with no mention of what the buyer plans to do with it. When Heritage announced the auction Monday, it didn’t identify the owner, who it said had purchased the glove from Maier.
Maier was a 12-year-old fan in the right-field stands Oct. 9, 1996, when he reached over the outfield fence at Yankee Stadium and got his glove on Jeter’s eighth-inning drive, preventing Tony Tarasco from catching it.
