Drinnon leads St. Francis over RMU

LORETTO, Pa. — Ronnie Drinnon had 19 points with eight rebounds and made a key pair of free throws on Monday to help St. Francis (Pa.) pull away from Robert Morris 66-59.

St. Francis (8-5, 2-0 Northeast Conference) led 58-57 when Earl Brown made a layup with 51 seconds left. Drinnon sank two free throws nine seconds later to extend the lead to five and Robert Morris (5-9, 1-1) got no closer.

Brown finished with 14 points, five rebounds, four assists and four steals for the Red Flash. Ben Millaud-Meunier also scored 14 and Ollie Jackson 10.

Trailing 31-26 at halftime, the Colonials tied three times in the second half but never took the lead. Robert Morris trailed 52-51 with 8:20 left, but St. Francis scored five straight. The Colonials closed the deficit to one twice more.

Reed had 22 points and Lucky Jones had 12 rebounds to lead Robert Morris.
