Mundell 20 points leads Carmichaels past Avella
Nick Mundell had 20 points as Carmichaels pulled away in the second quarter en route to a 64-51 non-section high school boys basketball victory over Avella Saturday.
Jacob Kinsell added 15 points and Liam Shea had 14 for the Mikes (4-10), who outscored the Eagles 25-13 in the second period.
C.J. Norman scored 19 points to lead the Eagles (1-15).
Upper St. Clair 60, Canon-McMillan 38: A day after losing, 35-31, at Canon-McMillan, Upper St. Clair turned the tables on the visiting Big Macs, handing them a 60-38 loss in a Section 4-AAAA game.
Andrew Wheeler had 19 points, while Zack Cherup added 14 for Upper St. Clair (5-3, 11-4).
Sam Bohn scored 18 points to lead Canon-McMillan (2-5, 7-8).
Mt. Lebanon 60, Peters Township 46: Mt. Lebanon blew open a game it led 25-24 at the half with a 22-8 run in the third quarter, as the Blue Devils defeated Peters Township, 60-46, in a Section 4-AAAA game.
Patrick Ehland had 16 points and John David added 15 for Mt. Lebanon (7-1, 12-4).
Nick Valentic scored 13 points and Mike Cortese had 11 for Peters Township (2-6, 6-8).
Girls basketball
Vincentian 86, Chartiers-Houston 43: Vincentian outscored Chartiers-Houston, 33-0, in the first quarter and cruised to an 86-43 non-section high school girls basketball victory.
Brenna Wise scored 26 points and Lexie Griggs had 12 for Vincentian (12-1), which had 12 different players score in the game.
Alexa Williamson made her return to the lineup for the Bucs (10-5) after sitting out the past week with a knee injury, scoring 23 points. Jalynn Myers added 10 points for Char-Houston.
