C-M girls upend Mt. Lebanon

Danielle Parker and Cheyenne Trest sparked a second-quarter outburst that helped Canon-McMillan defeat Mt. Lebanon 61-55 in a Section 4-AAAA game in the C-M gymnasium.

The win keeps the Big Macs’ playoff hopes alive.

Parker had 12 of her 24 points and Trest eight of her season-high 23 in the second quarter, when the Big Macs (6-6, 11-8) outscored the Blue Devils, 26-13.

Kenzie Bushee led Mt. Lebanon (7-4, 11-7) with 18 points and Maura Wallace and Fabi Shipley each scored 10 points.

Beth-Center 68, Carmichaels 45: Anna Bartman torched Carmichaels for 33 points as Beth-Center jumped out to a commanding 41-14 halftime lead en route to a 68-45 Section 4-AA win.

Kinlee Whited added 14 points for the playoff-bound Bulldogs (7-3, 10-4).

Carmichaels (2-8, 8-12) was led by Caroline Cree’s 21 points.

Avella 57, Monessen 56: Jade Georgetti hit the second of two free throw attempts in the closing minute to break a tie and lift Avella to a 57-56 Section 3-A victory over Monessen.

Brayden Tarolli had 13 points, Grace Lengauer 11 and Rainesha Brown 10 for the Eagles (3-9, 5-14), who nearly blew a 38-25 halftime lead.

Cara Grogan scored 26 points and Taree Bradford had 22 for Monessen (5-7, 7-12), which might have seen its playoff hopes dashed with the loss.

Frazier 48, Waynesburg 27: Cassidy Guiser scored 16 points as Frazier pulled away from Waynesburg for a 48-27 Section 3-AA victory.

Alena Blaszczyk added 10 points for Frazier (9-2, 12-6), which remained a half-game behind Washington in the section standings.

Kirsten Garber and Celine Monica had 11 points each for Waynesburg (0-12, 2-15).

Chartiers-Houston-58, Wilkinsburg 21: Three players scored in double figures to power Chartiers-Houston to a 58-21 victory over Wilkinsburg in a Section 3-AA game.

Alexa Williamson led the way with 20 points for the Bucs (7-3, 13-6), who led 31-3 after one quarter. Jala Youngblood scored 13 points and Jordan Simpson chipped in with 12 points.

Trinity 48, Quaker Valley 33: Mary Dunn and Alayna Cappelli combined for 37 points to send Trinity to a 48-33 victory over Quaker Valley in a Section 5-AAA game.

The win means Trinity (6-4, 13-5) can finish no worse than fourth in the section and has earned a playoff berth.

Dunn led the way with 19 points and Cappelli added 18 for the Hillers, who were tied 19-19 at halftime.

Karen Pugh led QV (4-6, 8-9) with 16 points.

Fort Cherry 48, Mapletown 21: Hannah Greene and Tina Bellhy combined for 34 points to propel Fort Cherry to a 48-21 victory over Mapletown in a Section 3-A game.

The win clinches a playoff spot for the Rangers (8-4, 9-9).

Greene scored 18 points and Bellhy contributed 18 for the Rangers.

Rachel Buchtan scored six points for Mapletown (3-9, 5-13).
