Rebellion trade Pauly to Akron
The Pennsylvania Rebellion have traded their No. 1 pitcher to the Akron Racers for a pair of selections in the National Pro Fastpitch Draft.
The Racers surrendered the eighth pick in the draft, a second-rounder, and a third-round pick in the 2016 draft.
The Rebellion now have three second-round picks after trading Pauly and making an earlier deal that sent the Edwards twins, Taylor and Tatum, to the USSSA Pride.
“I am extremely excited to add Sarah to our team,” said Akron Racers general manager Joey Arrietta. “She has a remarkable record of success in our league and in our system, I believe, she will provide Akron with a legitimate opportunity to return to the championship game in 2015.”
Pauly, a seven-time NPF All-Star, came to the Rebellion last year in a four-player trade that included the Rebellion’s first-round pick in the upcoming draft.
Pauly’s 91 career victories leads the league and she has a career 2.02 ERA.
“The Akron Racers have always been a very competitive team in the NPF,” Pauly said. “It is a great honor that I am now able to play for a team I have faced throughout my career. I am thankful to continue my career as a Racer with an organization I have respected throughout my career in the NPF.”
Pauly, the 6-3 former collegiate All-American and right-handed pitcher from Phoenix, played college softball for the Corpus Christi Islanders, from 2002-2005 and owns virtually all the school’s pitching records.
She joined the NPF in 2006 and currently has the most wins (91) and innings pitched (1,038.2) from her nine seasons.
She is one of five NCAA Division I pitchers to win 100 games, strikeout 1,000 batters, maintain a sub-1.00 ERA and average double digit strikeouts in a career.
Pauly is currently the pitching coach at her alma mater, the University of Texas at Corpus Christi.
