Duquesne beat George Mason, snaps 6-game losing streak

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Derrick Colter scored 16 points, Micah Mason and Jordan Stevens scored 10 apiece, and Duquesne beat George Mason 62-53 on Saturday to snap a six-game losing streak.

The Dukes (7-13, 2-7 Atlantic 10) won despite going scoreless for nearly nine minutes.

George Mason led 10-9 after Julian Royal’s jumper, but Duquesne pulled ahead on a 7-2 run before going scoreless for nearly five minutes. The Patriots scored just two points during the drought and trailed 22-15 at halftime.

The Dukes opened the second half with a 12-6 run and pulled away 42-30 after a 3-pointer by Colter before going scoreless for another four minutes. The Patriots pulled within 46-41 after a 3 by Corey Edwards, but Duquesne replied with an 8-2 run and led 54-43 with 2:27 left and held on.

Isaiah Jackson led the Patriots (7-13, 2-6) with 12 points and Jalen Jenkins had 11.
