Washington beats C-H to extend streak to eight
Matt Popeck scored 18 points and Washington cruised out to a 38-23 halftime lead en route to a 71-55 Section 3-AA victory over Chartiers-Houston in a high school boys basketball game Saturday.
Markel Pulliam added 15 points, Dequay Isbell 14 and Nathan Swart 10 for the Prexies (10-2, 12-6), who have now won their past eight games.
Alec Ferrari scored 29 points and A.J. Myers added 17 for Chartiers-Houston (5-7, 10-10), which remained in a tie for the fourth, and final, playoff spot in the section.
Peters Township 54, Keystone Oaks 30: Fourteen different players scored as Peters Township defeated Keystone Oaks, 54-30, in a non-section game.
Nick Valentic and Conor Freeley had eight points each for the Indians (8-11).
Mike Orosz had eight points for Keystone Oaks (3-17).
Monessen 70, Belle Vernon 60: Lavelle Rush scored eight of his 25 points i nthe fourth quarter as Monessen scored the game’s final 10 points in a 70-60 non-section win over Belle Vernon.
Jaden Altomore and Justice Rice had 13 points each for the Greyhounds (14-6).
Phil Henderson scored 16 points and Devin Hannon added 14 for Belle Vernon (6-12).
Fort Cherry 44, Clairton 11: Tina Bellhy had 20 points and Fort Cherry went on a 15-0 run in the second quarter as the Rangers downed Clairton, 44-11, in a non-section game.
The Rangers (10-9) led 23-5 at the half.
Clairton falls to 2-17.
