Rebellion blow lead in seventh, lose to Bandits
ROSEMONT, ILL. – Emma Johnson gave up two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning, including the game-winner on a bases-loaded walk Tuesday to hand the Chicago Bandits a 3-2 win over the Pennsylvania Rebellion in a National Pro Fastpitch softball league game.
It was the ninth consecutive loss for the Rebellion, who are in last place in the five-team division. The Rebellion are 4 1/2 games back of the Dallas Charge.
Johnson relieved starter Dallas Escobedo in the seventh inning with the Rebellion holding a 2-1 lead and issued A.J. Andrews a walk. Andrews then stole second base. Johnson got the next two outs by inducing Brenna Moss to foul out and Emily Allard to ground out to short.
Amber Patton singled to left field, knocking in Andrews and tying the game, 2-2. Patton moved to third base on a passed ball and Tammy Williams walked. Brittney Cervantes was intentionally walked to load the bases and Johnson walked Taylor Edwards on a 3-2 pitch to score Patton and end the game.
Escobedo pitched well, shutting out the Bandits until Edwards hit a solo home run with one out in the bottom of the sixth inning. Escobedo got the next two outs and exited the games after six innings, allowing just three hits, walking four and striking out one.
The Rebellion took a 2-0 lead when Cheyenne Cordes was hit by a pitch with two outs and scored on a double by Sarah Prezioso. Mandy Ogle followed with a single to drive in Prezioso.
