CRESTWOOD, Ill – Windy City erupted for five runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to rally for a 5-2 victory over the Washington Wild Things in a Frontier League game Tuesday.

Tim Giel allowed all five runs, ruining a strong effort by starter Kyle Helisek. Helisek gave up five hits, no runs and struck out two before giving way to Giel in the sixth.

Marques Riley hit a one-out triple to start Windy City’s seventh but was thrown out trying to score on a ground ball to short by Max White. Ransom Lalonde singled White to second base and Tyler Clark walked to load the bases.

Giel walked Coco Johnson to drive in White to cut the Wild Things’ lead to 2-1 and a fielder’s choice by Mike Torres scored Lalonde to tie the game. Giel gave up a walk to Jonathan Garcia to make it 3-2 and was replaced by reliever Steve Messner.

Austin Gallagher hit a two-run single off Messner to make it 5-2.

The Wild Things built an early 2-0 lead. Right fielder Scott Kalamar singled in third baseman Carter Bell in the first inning and Bell drove in Austin Wobrock in the fifth inning for the two-run edge.
