CRESTWOOD, Ill – Aided by an error, the Washington Wild Things scored three times in the top of the ninth to rally for a 5-4 victory over Windy City in a Frontier League baseball game.

The Wild Things entered the ninth trailing 4-2. David Popkins walked and one out later Matt Ford singled. Maxx Garrett singled to left field and the ball went under the glove of Ryan Deitrich and all the way to the wall, allowing Popkins and Ford to score. Andrew Heck drove in Garrett with a sacrifice fly.

Popkins homered in the second inning and Matt Ford scored on a double steal in the seventh for Washington (21-27). It was Popkins 13th home run of the season.

Windy City scored a run in the sixth inning on a wild pitch and another in the seventh on an error. The ThunderBolts scored twice in the seventh, one on an error and the other when Coco Johnson walked with the bases loaded.
