Rebellion’s offense falters in loss to Pride

1 min read

KISSIMMEE, Fla. – USSSA third baseman Andrea Duran hit a three-run homer and pitcher Chelsea Thomas shut down the Rebellion as the Pride prevailed with a 3-1 victory Sunday night at Champion Stadium in the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.

Duran, the Pride’s No. 9 hitter, gave USSSA (23-9) the lead in the bottom of the third inning with a home run to center field of Pennsylvania rookie pitcher Miranda Kramer (0-3). That’s all Thomas (5-2) would need. The former University of Missouri standout allowed only three hits, forcing the Rebellion (9-25) to strand six runners, and only needed 80 pitches to secure the victory. The Rebellion’s only run came in the top of the fourth when right fielder Alexa Peterson’s RBI double scored Haruna Sakamoto. Jordan Taylor earned her ninth save of the season by striking out the side in the seventh.
