6-run second inning does in Wild Things

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – A six-run second inning propelled the Evansville Otters to an 8-1 victory over the Washington Wild Things in a Frontier League game Friday.

Kurt Wertz and Dane Phillips combined to drive in five runs and Jeremy Nowak had a two-run double to pace the Evansville attack.

Matt Sergy (3-4) lasted 1 2/3 innings before leaving with an injury. He allowed four earned runs. Tyler Ferguson gave up three runs in 1/3 of an inning. Washington used seven pitchers, including second baseman Matt Ford.

Trevor Walch (8-3) gave up one run in seven innings in picking up the victory.
