Emily Weiman took a shutout into the seventh inning and Alisa Goler hit a home run as the Pennsylvania Rebellion edged Akron, 2-1, Thursday night at Firestone Stadium, snapping a five-game losing streak.

Goler hit a solo home run in the top of the third inning to give the Rebellion (3-8) a 1-0 lead.

The Rebellion then added an insurance run in the top of the fourth inning when Samie Garcia had an RBI double off Akron (2-4) starter Lisa Norris. The hit scored pinch-runner Courtney Senas.

Ashley Thomas had an RBI single in the seventh inning to cut the lead to 2-1 and Akron loaded the bases before Emma Johnson got Jen Gilbert to fly out on a 3-2 pitch to end the game. Johnson got the final three outs for a save.

Weiman allowed three hits and one run in six-plus innings and struck out six.
