High school softball roundup: C-M rolls in 4-AAAA opener
Katelynn Greaves went 2-for-4 and drove in 3 runs Tuesday to pace Canon-McMillan to a 14-4 victory over Mt. Lebanon in a Section 4-AAAA game.
Kayla Hopkins went 3-for-4 with 2 RBI and Linda Rush drove in a pair for the Big Macs (1-0, 3-0), who scored 11 runs in the fifth inning.
Mt. Lebanon fell to 0-2, 0-1 in the section.
• Katie Tarr struck out eight batters in three innings and also doubled, driving in four runs, as Burgettstown defeated Avella, 15-0, in a non-section game.
Cheyanne Winters added two hits and three RBI for the Blue Devils (3-1).
Samantha Dunkle took the loss for Avella (0-1).
• A five-run second inning pushed Bentworth to a 6-3 win over Brownsville in a non-section game.
Winning pitcher Casey Hite and Morgan Vickless each went 2-for-3 and drove in two runs for the host Bearcats (1-0, 3-2). Morgan Hawley added a double.
Ally Lint, Shelby Settles and Celina Smith each had a double for Brownsville (0-1, 0-2).
