Steelers release Pead, sign Toussaint
The Steelers released veteran running back Isaiah Pead and signed running back Fitzgerald Toussaint off of their practice squad Friday and added him to their 53-man roster.
Toussaint played in four regular season and two postseason games as a rookie out of Michigan last season with Baltimore. He has eight career carries for 17 yards.
He has been on Pittsburgh’s practice squad since Sept. 7.
Pead had been signed earlier this month when Le’Veon Bell was lost for the season to a knee injury.
The Steelers list both linebacker Ryan Shazier (knee) and tight end Matt Spaeth (knee) as questionable for their game Sunday at Seattle.
The Seahawks have declared running back Marshawn Lynch (abdomen) and receiver Paul Richardson (hamstring) as out, while linebacker Bruce Irvin (knee) is doubtful. Center Patrick Lewis (ankle) is questionable.
