Andjusic, Cal men beat PSU-Fayette
Behind a career-high 25 points by sophomore Luka Andjusic and a pair of double-doubles, the California University men’s basketball team claimed a 98-88 non-conference victory over Penn State-Fayette Sunday afternoon at the Convocation Center.
The Vulcans improve to 2-4 with both victories coming at home. The Roaring Lions fell to 2-5.
Andjusic led all players with 25 points on 8 of 12 shooting, including 6 of 10 from beyond the arc. He also added four rebounds, five assists and two steals. Andjusic, who entered play with 11 three-pointers through five games, is the first player to make at least six three-pointers in a game since February of 2014.
Senior Richard Smith finished with 14 points on six-of-seven shooting and pulled down 10 rebounds. Sophomore Daniel Sapp added 12 points and 10 rebounds off the bench. Fellow sophomore Tony Richardson, also coming off the bench, poured in 12 points and grabbed five rebounds in 15 minutes. Senior Khalil Jabbie scored 11 points and had four assists.
The Vulcans had runs of 10-3 and 10-0 in building a 55-41 lead at halftime.
Another run, 14-4, stretched Cal’s lead to 83-60 with 9:22 to play.
Senior Luke Williams led the Roaring Lions with 23 points on 9 of 18 shooting, including 4 of 8 from three-point range. Junior Dominick Jackson finished with 21 points while playing 24 minutes.
