Girls soccer: Fudala’s goal helps Waynesburg clinch playoff spot

Waynesburg clinched its first trip to the playoffs since 2008 with a 1-0 victory over Ringgold Saturday night in a Section 4-AA match.

Bailey Fudala scored the game-winner for the Raiders (8-1, 9-1), when she received a touch pass from Brenna Lipscomb in the box. Josie Evans earned the shutout with 15 saves. The Rams are 5-2-2 in section, 6-3-2 overall.

• Miranda VanKirk scored to lift Bentworth over Chartiers-Houston, 1-0, in a Section 2-A match Saturday afternoon.

Goalkeeper Cande Kossel earned the shutout for the Bearcats (6-3-1, 6-5-1), who maintained fourth place with the win. The Bucs (5-5, 5-8) have lost two consecutive matches.

• Kyra Watkins and Megan Sterner both scored two goals as Charleroi defeated Beth-Center 7-0 in a Section 2-A match.

Adrianna Gottheld, Kaitlyn Riley and Shayla Watkins also scored for the Cougars (9-0-1, 10-1-1), who have won nine consecutive matches. Morgan Riley had three assists and Sydney Toth earned her eighth shutout of the season. The Bulldogs are 1-8 in section, 2-8 overall.
