Derry hands McGuffey tough loss

Tyler Balega caught an 8-yard touchdown pass from Trey Friedline with 8:21 to play to give Derry a 20-14 victory over McGuffey in a Class AA Interstate Conference game.

Balega also scored on runs of 7 and 1 yards for Derry (3-2, 3-2). Balega rushed for 192 yards on 34 rushes.

Shaun Sanders scored twice, on a five-yard run in the second quarter and a 75-yard kickoff return to start the second half that tied the game 14-14. Sanders had 56 yards on three carries. Marcus Czulewicz completed 11 of 23 passes for 108 yards and Connor Thompson had five receptions for 85 yards.
