Roethlisberger returning to practice for Steelers
PITTSBURGH – Ben Roethlisberger said Wednesday morning that he will take some snaps in practice for the first time in three weeks after suffering a sprained MCL Sept. 27 in a win at St. Louis.
Roethlisberger, wearing just a light wrap on his injured left knee, said he is feeling considerably better and will get some work in 7-on-7 drills today as he attempts to make a return, though he continued to put a time table on that.
“I’m just being smart,” Roethlisberger said. “Once I’m able to protect myself, I’ll be back out there.
“One day at a time.”
The Steelers have split their two games without Roethlisberger, losing 23-20 in overtime to Baltimore Oct. 1 and winning 24-20 last Sunday at San Diego with Mike Vick at quarterback.
Roethlisberger has been off crutches since the game against Baltimore and did a light workout on the field before the game against the Chargers, throwing to receiver Martavis Bryant, who also said he expects to practice today.
“I can walk around just fine and step and throw,” Roethlisberger said of his recovery. “It’s being able to avoid a pass rush and make subtle moves in the pocket and out of the pocket.”
The Steelers host Arizona at 1 p.m. Sunday.
