Girls soccer: Canon-Mac blanks West Allegheny
Canon-McMillan scored three second-half goals to defeat West Allegheny, 4-0, in a Section 4-AAA match Saturday afternoon.
Allie Thomas, Sabrina Bryan, Aideen O’Donoghue and Alena Poljak scored for the Big Macs (2-0, 4-0). The Indians (0-1, 0-4) only had one shot against C-M goalkeeper Megan Virgin.
• Alyssa Daugherty took a pass on the right wing and lunched a shot into the corner of the net with four minutes left in the second overtime to give Chartiers-Houston a 5-4 victory over Serra Catholic in a Section 2-A match.
The win moves C-H to 2-0 in the section and 2-2 overall. Serra is 1-1, 1-2.
Erin James had a huge game for C-H, scoring three goals. Alyson Ferrari had the other goal for the Bucs.
Abigal Reith led Serra’s attack with two goals.
• Adrianna Gottheld had a hat trick in Charleroi’s five-goal first half and the Cougars cruised to a 7-2 victory over visiting Bentworth in Section 2-A.
Gottheld scored three goals, and Morgan Riley and Shayla Watkins had one each, as Charleroi (1-0-1, 2-1-1) forged a 5-1 lead by halftime. Kyra Watkins scored two goals for the Cougars during the second half.
Victoria Cicci scored both goals for Bentworth (1-1, 1-3).
• Madison Clayton scored four goals as Waynesburg’s offense erupted in a 10-1 win over visiting Uniontown in Section 4-AA.
Lilly Behm also had a good game, scoring three goals. Sophie Benco tallied two goals for the Raiders (2-0, 3-0) and Maddie McCarty had one score.
Uniontown is 0-2 in section and 1-3 overall.
