Record night for Rush, Mapletown
ROGERSVILLE – Sophomore running back Dylan Rush ran for 221 yards and a school-record six touchdowns as Mapletown won its first game, 61-22, over host West Greene in the Tri-County South Conference.
Rush set individual school records for touchdowns and points in a game. He scored 42 points, which included three two-point conversions. Mapletown (1-2, 1-2) scored at least 60 points for the first time in school history. The Maples’ previous record for points was 53 against Center Township in 1946.
Rush, who carried 21 times, scored on runs of 4, 3, 1, 2 and 10 yards, and also scooped up a fumble and returned it 51 yards for a first-quarter score. The Maples led 32-0 after one quarter and 46-6 at halftime.
Matt Hein had a one-yard TD run in the first quarter and Gavin Uphold closed the scoring with a 14-yard run.
Zack Pettit rushed for 125 yards on only four carries for West Greene (0-3, 0-3) and scored from 27 and 73 yards. Owen Main also had a one-yard scoring plunge.
