SSB pulls away from Fort Cherry
McDONALD – Cameron Smith and quarterback Robert Heberle hooked up for two touchdown passes, and each returned an interception for a score, as South Side Beaver defeated host Fort Cherry 48-14 Friday night in a non-conference game at Jim Garry Stadium.
Heberle passed 31 and 23 yards to Smith and also capped the game’s scoring with a 61-yard interception return in the fourth quarter. Smith had a 70-yard interception return in the third quarter that gave SSB (2-1) a 35-7 lead.
The Rams’ Quae Thompson rushed for 147 yards on 17 carries and scored on runs of 29 and 19 yards.
Fort Cherry (1-2), which trailed 14-7 late in the first half, received 113 rushing yards on 14 carries from Nick Cook, who scored the lone TD for the Fort Cherry offense on a 45-yard run. Scott Miller returned a first-quarter kickoff 90 yards for a TD.
Devon Brown completed eight of 16 passes for 165 yards for FC (1-2). Cook caught five passes for 91 yards.
