2 min read

DORMONT – Fort Cherry erased a 14-point fourth-quarter deficit and had the only score of overtime to complete a wild 20-14 come-from-behind victory over Bishop Canevin in a Black Hills Conference game Saturday night at Dormont Stadium.

Bishop Canevin (1-1, 2-2) forged a 14-0 lead after three quarters as Austin Scott hauled in a 21-yard TD pass from Dom Palmosina in the second quarter and threw a 66-yard touchdown to Amaan Bridgett in the third quarter.

With Canevin driving for a another score, Matthew Kehn intercepted a Crusaders pass deep in FC territory to thwart the threat and change the game’s momentum. On Bishop Canevin’s next possession, Fort Cherry’s Robert Cooper intercepted a pass and returned it 48 yards for a touchdown that cut the Crusaders’ lead to 14-7 with 9:50 to play in regulation.

On Fort Cherry’s next possession, quarterback Devon Brown connected with Scott Miller on a 62-yard touchdown that tied the score at 14-14.

The Rangers (2-1, 2-2) had a chance to win but a field-goal attempt with eight seconds left fell short and sent the game to overtime.

Canevin had the ball first in OT but the Crusaders missed a field goal. Following a nine-yard run by FC’s Nick Cook on first down, Brown scored the game-winner on a one-yard plunge.

Brown completed 10 of 26 passes for 192 yards. Cook had four receptions for 78 yards.
