Softball: Two easy for W&J

Washington & Jefferson topped Grove City in a Presidents’ Athletic Conference doubleheader Tuesday, winning 8-0 in six innings and 9-1 in five innings.

W&J is 8-4 in the PAC and 12-14 overall.

The wins bring the Presidents’ record to 12-14 overall and 8-4 in the conference.

Krista McCartney threw a two-hit shutout in the opener and Morgan Figura drove in three runs. The Presidents scored five times in the sixth inning.

In the second game, winning pitcher Taylor Andres threw a two-hitter with six strikeouts and also hit a double. Rachel Marx and Meghan Staab each tripled.
