Baseball: Knizner completes job for Beth-Center
Jacob Knizner threw a four-hitter and Beth-Center took advantage of a bad fielding inning by host Frazier to defeat the winless Commodores, 6-2, Friday in Section 2-AA.
The win moves Beth-Center (3-4, 3-5) into sole possession of fourth place in the section.
With the scored tied 1-1, Beth-Center scored three times in the second inning, taking advantage of four errors by Frazier (0-8, 0-10).
That was enough offense for Knizner, who walked only one batter in throwing a complete game. Logan Muzina had a double for Frazier. Hunter Bowen had two of Beth-Center’s six hits, including a double.
• Avella scored four runs in the sixth inning to cap a 9-8 come-from-behind win over Our Lady of the Sacred Heart in a Section 5-A game.
Tyler Fraysier earned the win and went 3-for-3 with a double and three RBI. Cody Dobbin also drove in two runs for the Eagles (2-4, 3-9). OLSH (5-1, 11-2), which won seven consecutive games entering Friday, scored six runs in the first inning.
• Hunter Douglas went 3-for-4 with three RBI to pace Fort Cherry to a 15-2 victory over Northgate in a Section 1-AA game.
Winning pitcher Cam Schaub had a double, triple and two RBI for the Rangers (3-5, 6-6). Andy Nice had a triple and Greg Csonka a double. Northgate fell to 0-11, 0-8 in the section.
