Rebellion end season on sour note
A pair of two-run home runs provided the winning margin in the Dallas Charge’s 4-1 victory over the Pennsylvania Rebellion in an NPF softball season finale for both teams.
The Rebellion finished with a 17-33 record, the most wins in the three-year history of the organization but only good enough for last place in the six-team National Pro Fastpitch league. They were 16-32 last season and 9-41 in the inaugural year.
Dallas finished at 20-30 and in fifth place. The USSSA Pride, Houston Scrap Yard Dawgs, Akron Racers and Chicago Bandits made the championship series, which runs Aug. 19-23 at Rhoads Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
Taylor Gadbois hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the third inning and Lauren Haeger matched the feat in the fourth inning off starter Emma Johnson.
The lone Rebellion run came in the top of the fifth when Cheyenne Cordes drew a one-out bases-loaded walk. Vanessa Stokes replaced Cheriden Hawkins and got the next two outs for Dallas.
