Girls basketball roundup: West Greene improves to 3-0
McKenna Lampe and Kaitlyn Rizor combined for 43 points and West Greene remained undefeated with a 69-23 victory over visiting Bentworth in a non-section game Wednesday that was rescheduled from Tuesday.
Lampe led West Greene with 23 points, which included three three-point field goals. Rizor followed with a career-high 20 points and Madison Lampe scored 12 for the Pioneers, who improved to 3-0, with each victory by at least 40 points. West Greene led 53-10 at halftime.
Grace Marchezak led Bentworth (0-3) with seven points.
Canon-McMillan 66, Brownsville 38: Canon-McMillan made 10 three-pointers and had four players score in double figures during a 66-38 victory over visiting Brownsville in a non-section game.
Cheynne Trest led a balanced attack for Canon-McMillan (3-1) with 14 points. Tamara Mathis followed with 12 points, Lindsay Beach had 11 and Kierra King 10. The Big Macs took control of the game early, building a 39-14 lead at halftimne.
Only three players scored for Brownsville (1-3). Alie Seto and Lyric Mosley each had 18 points.
Clairton 49, Jefferson-Morgan 40: Kaylisha Reeves scored 20 points to send Clairton past Jefferson-Morgan 49-40 in a non-section match.
Clairton (2-2) outrebounded the Rockets (2-2) 40-23. Anna Mattish led J-M with 21 points.
SS Beaver 45, Burgettstown 43: Lex Chickarello scored 22 points, including 18 on three-point field goals, as South side Beaver held off a rally by Burgettstown in the fourth quarter for a 45-43 win in a non-section game.
Jess Barber added 10 points for the visitin Rams (2-1).
Kacie Prasko scored 15 points and younger sister Emily add 12 for the Blue devils (2-1), who had a chance to tie or win but a corner shot at the buzzer missed.
Albert Gallatin 49, Waynesburg 26: Kylee Meyers scored 16 points to send Albert gallatin past Waynesburg 49-26 in a non-section game.
Albert Gallatin (3-1) outscored the Raiders (0-3) by 22-8 over the final quarter.
Claire Garber scored 11 points and Shay Echegaray had nine rebounds and her sister Bree seven.
