Girls basketball: Another triple-double for C-H’s Williamson
Alexa Williamson had her second triple double of the young season, scoring 26 points with 13 rebounds and 10 blocked shots as Chartiers-Houston knocked off Charleroi, 59-41, in a non-section game.
Jala Walker added 22 points, while Kiera Walker added 11 rebounds for the Bucs (3-1), who took control of the game in the second quarter with an 18-5 run.
Sierra Short led Charleroi (3-1) with 15 points, while Maria Claybaugh added 11 points in the losing effort.
Carlynton 71, McGuffey 29
Diamond Thomas scored 20 points to hand Carlynton a 71-29 victory over McGuffey in a non-section game.
Ashleigh Wilson chipped in with points for the Cougars (2-1), who led 51-16 at halftime.
Mikalah Maxwell led McGuffey (0-4) with eight points.
Burgettstown 57, Waynesburg 20: Kacie Prasko scored 21 points to help Burgettstown to a 57-20 win over Waynesburg in a non-section.
Burgettstown (3-0) led 21-7 at halftime. Julianna Fowler scored 10 points for Waynesburg (0-4).
Belle Vernon 44, Greensburg Salem 41: Ashley Russell and Lindsay Steeber combined for 22 points to pace Belle Vernon to a 44-41 victory over Greensburg Salem in a non section game.
Russell scored 12 and Steeber 10 for BV. Megan Kallock scored a game-high 30 points for Greensburg Salem.
West Greene 50, Carmichaels 18: West Greene jumped out to a 19-2 lead after one quarter and cruised to a 50-18 non-section win over Carmichaels.
Madison Lampe scored 15 points, McKenna Lampe 13 and Kaitlyn Rizor added 12 for the Pioneers (4-0).
Kristina Aeschbacher led Carmichaels (2-2) with eight points.
Fort Cherry 38, Freedom 37: McKenzie Garry’s jumper from the corner with 13 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter capped off a furious comeback by Fort Cherry in a 38-37 non-section win over Freedom.
The Rangers (2-1) trailed 31-21 entering the fourth quarter but finished the game on a 17-6 run.
Shannon Relihan had 14 points and 12 rebounds for the Rangers.
Taylor Greene led Freedom (1-2) with 17 points.
