Boys basketball: Garrett scores 35 in Jefferson-Morgan victory
D.L. Garrett scored a career-high 35 points as visiting Jefferson-Morgan topped Mapletown, 100-53, in a non-section game Monday night.
Jalen Torres added 24 points and Gage Clark had 18 for the Rockets (2-2).
Richie Catchareck had 13 points and Cody Dice 11 for Mapletown (0-5).
Peters Township 60, Dobyns-Bennett, Tenn., 58: Mike Cortese scored 12 points as Peters Township got scoring contributions from 10 different players in a 60-58 win over Dobyns-Bennett, Tenn., at a KSA Tournament in Orlando.
Matt Thelk added 11 points, while Dax Ploskina added 10 for the Indiana, who remained unbeaten at 4-0.
Riamellow Wadsworth and Zach Griffin had 14 points each for Dobyns-Bennett, which led 46-44 entering the fourth quarter before allowing the Indians to go ahead late in the game.
Canon-McMillan 55, Kennedy Catholic (N.Y.) 47: Canon-McMillan made 11 three-point field goals and held off Kennedy Catholic (N.Y.) 55-47 in the KSA Tournament in Orlando, Fla.
The win moves Canon-McMillan’s record above .500 to 3-2. The Big Macs, who built a 25-18 lead after one quarter and remained in front the rest of the way, were led by Britton Beachy’s 18 points. Carson Miller followed with 12 points.
Western Beaver 59, Avella 57: Nate Hepler scored 28 points as Western Beaver outlasted Avella, 59-57, in overtime in a non-section game.
Austin Lis sent the game into overtime with a buzzer-beating two-point basket for the Eagles (0-3), who were outscored 9-7 in the extra period.
Garrett Geresti scored 17 points, had 15 rebounds and blocked seven shots for the Eagles, while Steven Miller added 13 points and Shawn Williard 11.
Louie Hopach and Grant Martin added 13 points each for Western Beaver (2-2).
