Girls basketball: Rockets remain undefeated in Section 3-A

Kayla Yorko had 17 points and Jefferson-Morgan outscored West Greene, 32-17, in the second half to beat the Pioneers, 60-44, in a Section 3-A game.

Erin Confortini added 13 points and Jayme Lawrence had 12 for Jefferson-Morgan, which improved to 6-0 in section and 11-1 overall.

Madison Lampe scored 18 points, while McKenna Lampe added 14, for West Greene (4-2, 10-3).

Bethel Park 46, Canon-McMillan 37: Bethel Park built a 10-point lead at halftime and went on to a 46-37 victory over Canon-McMillan in a Section 4-AAA game.

Shannon Conley scored 15 points and Justina Mascaro added 14 for BP (6-0, 11-1).

Cheyenne Trest led the Big Macs (4-2, 7-5) with 12 points. Taylor Waller injured her finger early on and finished with one point.

West Mifflin 55, Belle Vernon 50: Miranda Ferguson and Jenna Zabelsky combined for 33 points to help West Mifflin to a 55-50 win over Belle Vernon in a Section 4-AAA game.

Ferguson poured in 21 points and Zabelsky 12 for West Mifflin (1-4, 3-10).

Caitlyn Trombley scored 17 and Kelsey Green 15 for BV (0-5, 4-8), which was outscored, 20-10, over the final eight minutes.

California 58, Fort Cherry 22: California surged to a 26-6 run in the first quarter and cruised to a 58-22 win over Fort Cherry in a Section 3-A game.

Jenna Miller led Cal (5-1, 7-5) with 16 points and Bailey Vig added 13 points. Ina Helmick chipped in with eight.

Fort Cherry fell to 2-4 and 3-9.

Washington 58, Beth-Center 23: Carly Allen scored a game-high 17 points ot pace Washington to a 58-23 rout of Beth-Center in a Section 4-AA game.

Tajah Gordon added 13 for the Prexies (5-0, 10-3), which led 23-11 at halftime.

Kinlee Whited’s 17 points led Beth-Center (1-4, 3-7).

Trinity 69, Montour 33: Mary Dunn scored 25 points and Sierra Kotchman had 20 points and 12 assists as Trinity pulled away from Montour for a 69-33 Section 5-AAA win.

Delaney Elling added 11 points for the Hillers (3-1, 8-2), who led just 14-13 after one quarter.

Amalia Esposito led Montour (1-3, 5-6) with 14 points.

Charleroi 80, Bentworth 22: Adrianna Gottheld had 24 points and Kaitlyn Riley 20 as Charleroi sprinted past Bentworth, 80-22, in a Section 4-AA game.

Kyra Watkins chipped in 18 points for the Cougars (5-1, 10-3), who led 38-16 at the half.

Bentworth falls to 0-6, 2-10.

Seton-La Salle 55, Chartiers-Houston 39: Shaunay Edmonds scored 20 points and Seton-La Salle broke open a close game with an 18-9 second quarter run to defeat Chartiers-Houston, 55-39, in a Section 3-AA game.

Madalena Psillidis added 13 points for Seton-La Salle (4-0, 6-5).

Jala Walker scored 14 points and Keaira Walker added 11 for the Bucs (3-2, 10-3).

Brentwood 52, Burgettstown 25: Brentwood opened the game with a 22-3 run en route to a 52-25 Section 3-AA victory over Burgettstown.

Alecia Folino and Molly Huffman scored 10 points each for Brentwood (2-3, 8-4).

Katie Tarr led Burgettstown (1-4, 7-5) with 13 points.

Frazier 56, Carmichaels 24: Carmichaels was held to six points in each quarter in a 56-24 Section 4-AA loss to Frazier.

Brooke Poling had 16 points, Hannah Fell 11 and Jovanna Isaac 10 for Frazier (4-1, 7-5).

Carmichaels falls to 2-4 and 4-9.

Avella 40, Geibel Catholic 36: Brayden Tarolli ahd 12 points as Avella held off Geibel Catholic, 40-36, in a Section 3-A game.

Avella (3-3, 5-6) held a big lead entering the fourth quarter, but Geibel (2-4, 4-8) made a push behind Grace Nowicki’s 28 points to make it a close contest.
