Mary Dunn scored her 1,000th career point, getting 26 total to go along with 14 rebounds and six blocked shots, as Trinity topped McGuffey, 76-33, in a Section 5-AAA high school girls basketball game Monday night.

Dunn, a Youngstown State recruit, needed eight points entering the game to break the 1,000-point barrier. She took care of that in the first half as the Hillers (5-1, 11-2) jumped out to a 34-11 lead after two quarters.

Sierra Kotchman added 16 points for Trinity.

Katie Demi led McGuffey (0-6, 1-12) with 11 points.

Frazier 71, Washington 45: Frazier opened the second half on a 22-5 run and turned the Section 4-AA title into a three-team race again, defeating Washington, 71-45.

Freshman point guard Brooke Poling had 33 points for the Commodores (5-1, 10-4), who led just 36-32 at the half.

Alena Blaszczak added 15 points for Frazier.

Tajah Gordon had 24 points for Washington (5-1, 10-4), which had been unbeaten in section play.

Beth-Center 46, Bentworth 28: Kinlee Whited had 10 of her game-high 24 points in a 16-4 first quarter-run as Beth-Center defeated Bentworth, 46-28, in a Section 4-AA game.

Mary Gustovich added 10 points for the Bulldogs (2-4, 4-7).

Heather Chester’s eight points led the way for Bentworth (0-6, 2-11).

Belle Vernon 52, Elizabeth Forward 49: Kelsey Green scored 12 points and Belle Vernon held off Elizabeth Forward, 52-49, in a Section 4-AAA game.

Caitlyn Trombley added 10 points for the Leopards (1-5, 5-8), who picked up their first section win.

Brianna Mikus led EF (2-4, 7-7) with 12 points.

West Greene 69, Avella 52: West Greene missed 19 free throws, but got 42 points from Madison and McKenna Lampe to defeat Avella, 69-52, in a Section 3-A game.

McKenna Lampe had a game-high 27 points and Madison added 15 for the Pioneers (5-2, 11-3), who made just 22 of 51 free throws and used a 19-point fourth quarter to pull away for the win.

Avella (3-4, 5-7) trailed by 10 points at the half before allowing 34 second-half points and was led by Kodi Georgetti’s 10 points.

Chartiers-Houston 58, Burgettstown 18:Jala Walker had 18 points and Chartiers-Houston allowed just eight second-half poitns on its way to a 58-18 win over Burgettstown in a Section 3-AA game.

The Bucs (4-2, 11-3) made just 8 of 21 free throws and led 25-8 at halftime. The Blue Devils (1-5, 7-6) made only two field goals, but got nine points from Kacie Prasko.

South Park 48, Ringgold 32: Junior Alyssa Greer scored 14 of her game-high 17 points in the second half to spark South Park’s 48-32 win over Ringgold to secure first place in Section 4-AAA.

Greer sparked the Eagles’ 33-point second half after they held a 15-13 lead at halftime. Allison McGrath added 13 points for South Park (6-0, 10-1), which went on a nine-game winning streak.

Ashley Briscoe had 15 points and 19 rebounds for the Rams (5-1, 8-5).

Jefferson-Morgan 62, Mapletown 17: Nikki Venick and Kayla Yorko combined for 26 points to lead Jefferson-Morgan to a 62-17 win over Mapletown in a Section 3-A game at home.

Venick had 15 points and Yorko chipped in 11 for the Rockets (7-0, 12-1), who held the Maples to just seven first-half points.

Abby Antill had eight points for Mapletown (2-5, 3-10).

California 47, Monessen 21: Bailey Vig made five three-pointers and California held Monessen to six second-half points during a 47-21 win in a Section 3-A game.

Vig had a game-high 21 points and Dominique Gaston had nine for the Trojans (6-1, 8-5), who did not allow more than eight points in a quarter.

Monessen (0-7, 1-12), which has lost 11 consecutive games, was led by Natalia Holmes’ eight points.

Waynesburg 43, Carmichaels 33: Kirsten Garber had 15 points and Waynesburg used a 26-point second half to defeat Carmichaels 43-33 in a Section 4-AA game.

The Raiders (3-3, 5-6) led by four points at the half and got 10 points from Rachel Eilsenheimer.

Kristina Aeschbacher led the Mikes (1-5, 4-10) with 11 points.

Fort Cherry 42, Geibel Catholic 28: Shannon Relihan and Hannah Greene combined for 20 of Fort Cherry’s 29 second-half points as the Rangers defeated Geibel Catholic, 42-28, in a Section 3-A game.

Relihan had 16 points and Greene 12 for the Rangers (2-4, 3-9), who led 13-12 at halftime and also got 10 points from Mackenzie Garry. Sam Nowicki had 21 points for the Gators (4-8).

Brownsville 49, Charleroi 47: Brownsville jumped out to an early lead and held on for a 49-47 win over Charleroi in a non-section game.

Maris Seto had a game-high 31 points for the Falcons (12-2), who led 16-12 at the end of the first quarter and held off a second-half rally. Maria Claybaugh had 17 points for the Cougars (10-4).

Boys results

Blackhawk 52, South Fayette 40: Dawson Merry’s 17 points helped Blackhawk to a 52-40 non-section victory over South Fayette in a non-section game.

The Lions (6-4) led 13-8 after one quarter, but were outscored 29-17 in the second half by Blackhawk (5-7).

Matt Thomas had 14 points for South Fayette.

Jefferson-Morgan 54, Mapletown 30: D.L. Garrett scored 20 points and Jefferson-Morgan scored 26 second-quarter points on its way to a 54-30 win in a Section 3-A game.

Gage Clark added 13 points for the Rockets (2-4, 3-11) and held the Maples to 10 first-half points. Alix Gennette had 13 points for the Maples (0-6, 0-13), who also got six points from Austin Herpak.
