Boys basketball: Koroly, Trinity hold off McGuffey

CLAYSVILLE – Joey Koroly made eight of his 13 free throws in the fourth quarter to help Trinity hold on for a 54-50 win over rival McGuffey in a Section 5-AAA boys basketball game Tuesday night.

Koroly, who made 13 of 14 free throws and all eight of his attempts in the fourth quarter, led the Hillers (4-2, 6-6) with 19 points and Jaden Nelson added 13.

Trinity led 34-26 at the end of the third quarter, but was outscored 24-20 in the fourth. Trinity was 13 of 17 from the free-throw line in the final eight minutes.

McGuffey (0-6, 5-9) had possession with 19 seconds remaining in regulation and trailing by only two points. The Highlanders, however, missed a shot and fouled Koroly, who converted both attempts to secure the win for Trinity.

Shaun Sanders led the Highlanders with 14 points, and Colin Chapman had 13 points and 11 rebounds.

In other games: South Fayette was a 70-44 winner over host Keystone Oaks in Section 5-AAA. No details were made vaailable to the Observer-Reporter.
