Rice scores 23 as Monessen beats California

Justice Rice scored a game-high 23 points and Monessen used a 48-point second half to defeat visiting California, 81-40, in a game between the top two teams in Section 3-A.
Jaron Youngblood had 18 points and Jaden Altomore 17 for the Greyhounds (6-0, 11-3), who led by only 11 points at halftime and was missing its leading scorer, Dwight Moore.
The Trojans (5-1, 8-4) made just 3 of 13 free throws and did not have a double-digit scorer.
Washington 68, Burgettstown 20: Isaiah Robinson scored a game-high 17 points and Washington used a 42-point first half to defeat Burgettstown, 68-20, in Section 3-AA.
Nate Swart had 12 points and Matt Popeck added 10 for the Prexies (6-1, 8-5), who led by 32 points at halftime and allowed just 10 points in the second half.
Max Shaw had five points for the Blue Devils (1-6, 4-11).
Waynesburg 60, Carmichaels 48: Darton McIntire scored 17 of his game-high 30 points in the second half to help Waynesburg complete a come-from-behind 60-48 win over host Carmichaels in Section 4-AA.
The Mikes (2-4, 7-6) led 29-28 at halftime, but went cold in the third quarter, when they were outscored by nine points and Waynesburg scored 19 points in the fourth points to secure the win. Mitch Warman added 17 points for the Raiders (3-3, 6-6) and Liam Shea lead Carmichaels with 13.
Charleroi 62, Fort Cherry 58: Charleroi trailed with three minutes remaining but made 11 of 18 free throws in the fourth quarter to secure a 62-58 win over visiting Fort Cherry in a non-section game.
Sam Miceli and John Arnold each had 18 points for the Cougars (10-3), who trailed at the end of the third quarter and regained the lead with just over two minutes remaining.
Devon Brown had 21 points for the Rangers (2-11) and Rob McAnany 16.
Belle Vernon 46, East Allegheny 44: Noah Bukowski made a layin at the buzzer to send Belle Vernon to a 46-44 win over East Allegheny in a non-section game.
Derek Thomas had a game-high 13 points and Bukowski chipped in 10 for the Leopards (4-7), who trailed by two points entering the fourth quarter. Eddi Gibbs had 11 points for the Wildcats (6-6).

Uniontown 50, Charleroi 45: Khai Harris scored a game-high 27 points and Uniontown used a 16-point fourth quarter to defeat Charleroi, 50-45, in a non-section game.
Arielle Winfrey added 14 points for the Red Raiders (3-9), who trailed by three points at halftime and tied the score entering the fourth before grabbing the lead. Uniontown made 8 of 15 free throws and outscored Charleroi 16-11 in the fourth quarter.
Kyra Watkins had a team-high 15 points for the Cougars (10-5).
